The teleseminars are led by Paul
Sterling and Kristin Denton. Paul Sterling,
after a career as a commercial fisherman in Alaska, has
spent the past twenty years studying and teaching
communication skills in government, business and
private practice.
He developed his method of The Language of Peace after
studying the work of Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, Nonviolent
Communication (
www.cnvc.org ). Paul blended NVC with systems
theory, neuro-linguistic programming and
neuro-associative conditioning to create an incredibly
effective way to compassionately connect with oneself
and others.
Kristin Denton has been
an instructor of language, literature and communication
for the last 17 years in factory, service industry, and
public school settings. Kristin has a B.A. in Philosophy and English Literature plus her Teaching Certification from CU, Boulder. She later studied Second Language Acquisition and Instructional Design at CU, Denver. Kristin is Paul's life partner and
joins him in presenting his communication method.
Hi Kristen and Paul,
Thank you for last night's phone conference.... This
Language of Peace has given me such hope and freedom to
express what is in my heart and develop compassionate
communication at the same time....
Listening to you on the phone reminded me to go back to
MY needs; that anger is an increased energy level to be
heard without being judged; and connect the feeling to
the need ( the need being 90%)....
I so congratulate you on what you are doing and wish you
much success in your work!
With Gratitude, Louise
Paul and Kristen:
Great call last night! I wanted to share my feedback
with you.... I had always learned that people have
needs/wants etc and when they are not getting them they
can or will behave in certain ways etc.
However, what really hit me and is sticking like glue is
that I now have a way to EXPRESS my needs and by having
that option it's allowed me to really examine my own
needs. By examining my needs and feeling permission to
express them I already feel a shift that I am more
sensitive to others needs. It's like a weight off my
shoulders!!
Ed L., In love and gratitude
Hello Paul and Kristin,
I just wanted to say thank you for allowing me to
participate in the conference call last night! I really
enjoyed it and look forward to next Tuesday. You two are
great in sharing your own personal stories; that makes
it all real – and I know we can all relate. I appreciate
the opportunity to be introduced to LOP … and hopefully
I will learn a lot and succeed in putting these
skills/tools into practice in my life… Having been a
psychology major in school, I am naturally drawn to
these issues and find it all fascinating – and do also
enjoy laughing at myself at my own communication errors!
